About Design by Cowboy

Design by Cowboy is the design arm of Art by Cowboy. Before progressing into more artistic endeavours, the Cowboy (or was it Mike?) was plying his skills in the design trade, and we are more than happy to continue this work simultaneously.

With a variety of creative experience and over 10 years practice, we are sufficiently equipped to handle the quirkiest or plainest of briefs. We have provided design and communication solutions for a good spread of corporate, agency and SME clients and can provide whatever creative services as you require.

Our newest employee, Marley the labradoodle, specialises in security, foot-warming and gardening.

... and what we believe in

Both Mike and the Cowboy are very flexible and adaptable creatives who believe that being creative is just enjoying making stuff and making it differently. It involves creating things yourself, from your own ideas. Too many folk claim to be creative when all they do is mimic or copy other work they've seen which they like and adapt it slightly for their purpose.

We make our own furniture without plans, cook extraordinary delights without using recipe books, make music that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before and try our best to avoid wearing clothes that might be seen as "fashionable". What's the point?

There are a few wolves in this world and there are lots of fluffy bleety sheep. No one can claim to be creative if all they are doing is regurgitating clichés. Too many are afraid of being different, we celebrate it.

OK sure, some of the work you'll see here doesn't exactly fit that description, but then, creating something unique, bizarre or unusual is rarely in the brief. Giving the client what they want is far more sensible than trying to tell the client they should do something different. They are the ones who know their business, and know what they want in the bigger scheme of things. We are just here to help them achieve that.
